Seattle

tech for housing

Seattle Tech for Housing is the tech community's response to Seattle’s growing housing crisis. With grassroots advocacy, corporate responsibility and passionate investors, ST4H has big plans to combat displacement and rising rents through pro-housing policy changes at the local, state and national level.

WHO'S WHO IN HOUSING

The tech housing debate is rich with opponents and allies. Our job was to position ST4H on a civic, state and federal level and align their mission with existing efforts. Whether tabling at an outreach event or petitioning lawmakers, the script we developed helped ST4H broadcast their message across appropriate media channels.

"WE'RE A COMMUNITY OF TECH WORKERS WHO BELIEVE THAT THE TECH BOOM CAN AND SHOULD BENEFIT EVERY SEATTLE RESIDENT."

Our client, Ethan Phelps-Goodman, is no stranger to housing policy. A software developer, entrepreneur and civic organizer, Ethan is the founder of both Seattle Tech for Housing and Seattle in Progress, a real estate tech consultancy and website for tracking construction in Seattle. Currently, we are partnering with Ethan to build an online resource which will provide information about Seattle zoning changes to empower home owners in making informed decisions about their property.

DRAWING UP SOLUTIONS

ST4H ambassadors are passionate, plugged-in and empathetic. Early adopters of progressive policy and servant leaders within their workplace, they are eager to give back. We sought to connect with them through engaging infographics that helped them navigate the complex housing debate.

OUTREACH TO ALLIES

ST4H's followers are energized to help build a city that is welcoming and affordable to both long-time residents and recent arrivals. By educating the tech community about the long-range effects of population influx and density, we open the conversation and connect some of the most brilliant minds with some of today's biggest problems.

"WE BELIEVE THAT ABUNDANT AND AFFORDABLE HOUSING IS THE FOUNDATION TO AN EQUITABLE CITY."

The time has come for Seattle to step up—to address its housing shortage, and support our most vulnerable residents; to facilitate volunteering through nonprofits serving the homeless community; to educate the tech community on issues of housing, equity and urban development. We stand with Seattle Tech for Housing and their vision for greater affordability and livability in Seattle.
